I came across a cool new XLR to USB interface component. Centrance has the MicroportPro.
The coolest part is the adapter in small and it offers Phantom power.
Plug it in and plug away!
The MicPort Pro is a professional USB mic preamp with true plug-and-play installation.
The MicroportPro enables instant computer recording with Windows (XP, and Vista) and Mac OSX.
Boasting 24-bit/96kHz performance, 48V phantom power, and a loud headphone output, its low-noise circuitry preserves high-quality audio at home or on the road.
Main Features:
• 24-bit/96kHz performance
• Works with dynamic and condenser mics
• 48V phantom power internally generated based on 5V of input so even condenser mics can be used with laptops
• Low-noise mic preamp with input level control knob
• High quality analog to digital (A/D) conversion
• USB bus powered - no batteries needed
• Headphone volume knob
• 6′ (1.83m) USB cable included

I found a great deal on the Plantronics DSP-500 headset. These are great for recording audio or doing your podcast. The headset has a USB connector and works on PCs and Macs. These were originally priced over $80 back when I bought my set a couple of years ago. Plantronics have them on clearance for $24.95.
